Div Com(J) reviews progress on construction of border bunkers

Jammu: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer Saturday chaired a meeting of Deputy Commissioners of border districts to review the progress on construction of individual and community bunkers along the border in Jammu division.
The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com about the progress of works on under construction individual and community bunkers in their respective districts. The Div Com was informed that work is in progress on bunkers in all border districts.
It was informed that a total 7923 bunkers have been completed so far in the division, including 6964 individual bunkers and 959 community bunkers. It was also informed that 9905 other pending bunkers are also under execution and are at different stages of construction.
The concerned DCs informed that 1592 bunkers including community and individual bunkers have been completed in district Samba, 1228 in district Jammu, 1521 in district Kathua, 2656 in district Rajouri and 926 in district Poonch.
They further informed that remaining bunkers are also under different stages of construction. The concerned officers informed about the number of bunkers at foundation level, superstructure level and slab level.
The Div Com took strong note of delay in tendering of pending bunkers and directed the concerned Executive Engineers to float tenders of bunkers the construction of which have not been taken up as yet for their timely completion.
The Div Com directed the DCs to personally monitor already executed works, while the executing agencies were asked to expedite the pace of work and adhere to the set timelines for completion.
The meeting was attended by Director Rural Development, Chief Engineer, PWD; Deputy Director Planning and other concerned officers while Deputy Commissioners Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch along with concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.
Later, in another meeting the Div Com reviewed the progress on Ring Road project.
The Div Com sought progress on each phase of the ring road and the NHAI officials apprised the Div Com about the work completed so far besides future work plan. It was informed that work is in progress on all the phases. Threadbare discussions was held on various issues which need to be addressed like availability of construction material.
The Divisional Commissioner instructed the DC Samba and Jammu to hold a meeting with all the concerned officers, seek material requirements from NHAI and ensure availability of material for smooth execution of work on the prestigious project.
The Div Com also directed NHAI to expedite the pace of work and ensure its completion with in time bound manner.
While reviewing disbursement of pending land compensation it was informed that most of the compensation amount has been distributed. The Div Com directed the concerned collectors/ SDMs to early complete the disbursement of compensation amount.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Samba, Project Director NHAI, besides concerned SDMs attended the meeting through virtual mode.
