Covid Care Centre starts functioning at Panchayat Halqa, Khimber of Distt Srinagar

Srinagar: As part of the efforts of the Government to identify Covid positive suspects in rural areas and to provide them timely treatment so that the spread of virus is contained in villages, the district administration, Srinagar, has established a five-bed Covid Care Centre (CCC) at the Panchayat Halqa Khimber of Harwan Block, Srinagar.
“The CCC at Khimber started to function from June 02 in the Panchayat Building”, said Mohammad Ayoub Sofi, ISM, Doctor who is presently stationed at the Covid treatment centre.
Dr Sofi said that the centre has been conducting Covid tests to identify infected individuals visiting the centre. He added that seven covid tests were held Friday during which two persons were found infected by virus.
He maintained that both were asymptomatic with no visible signs of fever, cough or cold besides their oxygen saturation reading is above the normal mark.
Dr Sofi further said that those two patients have been admitted for observation and treatment and isolated to contain spread of virus in other inhabitants of the area.
Regarding, facilities available at the CCC, he said all the basic facilities including water, electricity besides washroom facility are available.
He said the staff is providing necessary treatment to covid patients and administering medicine to them which has been made available at the centre by the Government.
He stated that the Zonal Medical Officer visited the centre a day before and provided all the required medicine, Covid kits and other logistics.
“In addition to the treatment for infected persons, we also educate people regarding Covid Appropriate Behavior”, he said.
Moreover, Dr Sofi said that Panchayat representatives and the Sarpanch as well as locals are fully cooperating with the medical team stationed at the Khimber Panchayat Covid Care Centre.
Also, he said the Covid Care Centre shall prove very effective for the treatment of infected besides help in its containment. This will reduce the burden on tertiary hospitals where severe patients are admitted and treated.
