Jammu: The prevailing times of covid crisis have spurred a group of compassionate citizens in Jammu to do some service to the ailing mankind and health warriors, who are fighting the pandemic with indomitable spirit.
When the world is losing all its strength to hang on, they have risen to the occasion to restore faith in humanity and become a source of inspiration for others.
Notwithstanding the fear of COVID-19, Ranjeev Gupta and his team of volunteers are entering the hospitals to feed the covid patients and covid warriors .
They put on their protection gear and bring packaged Thali meals for the covid patients in Government Hospital, Gandhinagar and Super Speciality Hospital.
Team Covid Sewa, as it is named, comprises Ranjeev Gupta, Rakesh Gupta, Aashish Jain, Viplove Gupta, Sahil Gupta along with Khana Khazana family. They are delivering 600 meals to patients, doctors, paramedics and home isolated patients daily.
The initiative taken by these men is not only a display of great compassion, but an inspiration for others to follow the suit, said an attendant.
When asked what prompted them to do this service, the team members said they were moved by the suffering of the people amid this pandemic.
“The people are suffering both physically, mentally & financially due to the disease. The doctors and paramedics are risking their lives to cure us. The patients, their attendants are not getting food” they said and added ‘in this tough time, the least we can do is to tell them that they are not alone and we stand with them.’ Sharing a meal with them satiates their hunger and satisfies our souls, they added.
Dr. Arun Sharma, Medical Superintendent and Dr Deepak Kumar, Dy. Medical Superintendent of 200 bedded hospital Gandhinagar welcomed this philanthropic service of Team Covid Sewa. They said the food served by them is healthy, clean and hygienic. They expressed their gratitude to the Team Covid Sewa and Khana Khazana Family for taking care of Covid patients and healthcare frontline workers.
