Srinagar/ May 18:- Chairman People’s Democratic Front(  PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has hailed decision of the J&K High court  to release all jail inmates in union territory amid severe  Covid-19 second wave.
In a statement issued on Tuesday Hakeem while hailing the decision of J& K High Court on release of jail inmates amid fresh Covid wave , has also demanded full health screening and vaccination of all the prisoners to ensure their safety along with their family members.
As already reported a high-powered committee, headed by High Court Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey has taken the decision to release all the jail inmates as per the directions of the Supreme Court  . Justice Magray has also directed Director General of Police (DGP), Prisons, to coordinate with the Health department to ensure vaccination of inmates and the jail staff on priority.
Hakeem also  urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to arrange bumper stocks of Covid vaccine so that  the stalled vaccination drive could be restored immediately in nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir.  ” Without a robust  vaccination drive ,  spread of the fatal coronavirus virus could not be contained effectively ,” Hakeem  maintained. He said “People in general now themselves are eager to  get themselves vaccinated against the Covid infection  as early as possible . Now the onus lies on the LG administration to plug all the loopholes in the way of uninterrupted vaccination drive in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir”,  adding that ” In view of the heavy death toll due to fast spreading pandemic in nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir, it was time to act instead of getting engaged in a blame game”. He also impressed upon the government to ensure adequate quantity of vaccine and oxygen supply in both Jammu as well as Kashmir regions without any discrimination to contain Covid-19 second wave.
