Srinagar: Apni Party District Youth President Srinagar, Mohsin Zaffar Shah on Sunday stressed on accelerating developments in Srinagar’s healthcare infrastructure and demanded that the Urban Primary Health Center Nishat should be transformed into a Health and Wellness Center under the centre’s flagship programme, Ayushmann Bharat (PM-Jay).
Shah visited several medical facilities in District Srinagar and interacted with the attendants on the directions of Apni Party Provincial President and former MLA Sonwar, Mohammad Ashraf Mir.
In a statement issued here, Shah said that the area has seen a large influx of inter-district residents who travel miles to reach a major hospital in Srinagar.
“In these difficult times, the health system is under tremendous strain, and Nishat UPHC needs priority allocation of HCW,” he added.
Shah went on to say that it would support the poorest members of society by providing them with affordable health care, which will help raise public consciousness considering fatal diseases.
He stated that the local residents of the area are in dire need of quality healthcare and that the government has repeatedly failed to provide it.
Shah observed that the pandemic has brought the healthcare system of District Srinagar to its knees, and it urgently needs a robust mechanism in terms of HCW transformation.
He asserted that the government should issue golden cards to the marginalised, particularly in light of the recent increase in covid19 cases in J&K.
Shah remarked that the doctors all over the world have fulfilled their vows to protect human life and expressed heartfelt appreciation for their selfless sacrifices and contribution to society by all the front-line workers including the healthcare staff.
Shah expressed grave concern over the extreme shortage of vaccines in Srinagar, saying that the inhabitants are dissatisfied with the District Administration’s conduct in dealing with the pandemic, which has stymied the city’s need for proper health care.
Shah emphasized the importance of increasing vaccination programmes, saying that, in addition to improving the tracing process, the pandemic must be combated by ensuring that all those who are eligible are vaccinated.
According to Shah, hospitals are overburdened with infected people, necessitating the government’s development of facilities where infected people can receive essential health care in Srinagar.
He urged that the concerned authorities should issue the pending golden cards forthwith so that citizens can benefit from Ayushmann Bharat’s services.
Shah further appealed to the District Administration to take stock of medicines in all PHCs and UPHCs in District Srinagar.
