Covid-19 Lockdown violations: 678 violators fined, 92 FIRs registered, 145 arrested

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested 145 violators besides registering 92 FIRs and penalising 678 others to implement the Covid-19 guidelines/SOPs/restrictions strictly throughout the valley.
Police in a statement issued on Wednesday said “during last 24hrs, Police has arrested 145 persons, lodged 92 FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of ₹1,09,200/- from 678 people for violating the guidelines/rules throughout Kashmir valley”, adding that “15 vehicles were also seized in Budgam and Kulgam for violating guidelines/restrictions and indulging in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals”. Police in the above referred statement also said that four shopkeepers were also booked by police in Ganderbal and Handwara for violating Covid-19 norms.
“ For strict implementation of Corona Curfew and guidelines issued by Govt in view of Covid19 Pandemic, SP Handwara Sandeep Gupta visited market Handwara and its adjacent areas and checked naka deployed at different locations of PD. He was accompanied by ASP Handwara Mashkoor Ahmad-JKPS, SDPO Handwara, Tehsildar Handwara and SHO Handwara”, reads the police statement.
Police in it’s statement further said that special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley to ensure that people adhere to SOPs/ guidelines envisaged by government to curb COVID-19 pandemic. Police in the above referred statement also appealed people to cooperate with police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs/ guidelines/ protocols for the safety of the people and reiterated that special drive shall remain continue throughout the districts of Kashmir Valley to strengthen the safety measures.
