Srinagar:Train services between Banihal in Jammu region and Baramulla in north Kashmir were suspended as a precautionary measure in Kashmir valley today on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. “We have suspended train services between Srinagar-Badgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north for security reasons,”’ a railway official told UNI.
Similarly, he said train run from Badgam-Srinagar-Pulwama-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region has also been suspended. “We received directions from the authorities and police to suspend train service in the valley for security reasons,” he said. Hundreds of passengers were disappointed after they were informed that the train service has been suspended. In the past, railway property suffered massive damage during demonstrations. Last year, rail service remained suspended for about six months, during unrest in the valley.
