9247 violators of covid guidelines fined, 281 FIRs registered , 202 arrested in 10 days : Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that implementing the Covid-19 guidelines/SOPs strictly during the last 10 days it has arrested 202 persons, lodged 281 FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of ₹1,245,790/- from 9247 people for violating the guidelines/rules throughout Kashmir valley. Police also said that 18 vehicles were also seized for violating Covid-19 SOPs and special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley.
A police statement issued on Thursday said “In Central Kashmir Range, 106 persons were arrested, 243 FIRs lodged and fine of ₹148,420/- was realized from 1019 violators”, adding that “ In North Kashmir Range, 63 persons were arrested, 21 FIRs lodged and fine of ₹442,470/- was realized from 3688 violators. In South Kashmir Range, 33 persons were arrested, 17 FIRs were lodged and fine of ₹654,900/- was realized from 4540 violators”.
The police in it’s statement also said that interactive meetings were also held at all the district levels with the Imams, religious leaders and Auqaf Committees as they have a critical role in fighting the pandemic and creating awareness on key measures for preventing the spread of Covid-19, stating therein that they were urged to cooperate with Police in adherence of Covid-19 guidelines/SOPs during the prayers at Masajid.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to cooperate with the Police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs/guidelines/protocols and restriction orders imposed by Government for the safety of the people.
