Srinagar: As many as 76 drug licenses have been suspended while 209 others have been issued show cause notices in Srinagar, where Drugs and Food Control Organization (D&FCO) has constituted various teams to carry out comprehensive market checking of Drug Sale Establishment in district Srinagar.
An official spokesman said here today that In order to curb the Psychotropic & Habit forming drugs in the market, the D&FCO has constituted various teams to carry out comprehensive market checking of Drug Sale Establishment in district Srinagar
During the special drive, the teams, headed by the Assistant Drug Controllers with 5-6 Drug Inspectors in each team, had inspected 534 establishments in different areas of District Srinagar wherein 109 show cause notices were issued to the Retail & Wholesale establishments.
He said 76 licenses were suspended for various violations viz-a-viz non-maintenance of sale and purchase records, improper storage of drugs, unhygienic conditions of premises and non-issuance of bills & cash memos.
Detailed inspections were conducted and on spot instructions were issued to the druggists for strict adherence to the conditions of the license. The Chemists were asked to maintain sale and purchase records of various drugs properly, proper storage conditions of the drugs as per their requirement and issue bills & cash memos regularly.
During the drive the traders were sensitized to retain the photocopy of the prescription wherein Schedule H1 and Psychotropic drugs have been prescribed for record and reference purpose so that misuse of such drug is minimized. Many of the Drug Sale establishments were closed down on the spot which were contravening certain clauses of Drug and Cosmetics Act, he said.
