Srinagar: A day after being expelled from the basic party membership, police today arrested a ruling Peoples Democratic Party former youth leader Mehrajuddin Rather for duping people in north Kashmir district of Bandipora.
Official sources here said that Rather was today arrested by police following complaints that he had cheated people by asking money in lieu of government jobs.
A PDP spokesman yesterday said Rather was expelled from the basic membership of the party for involving in indiscipline and anti-party activities. He was expelled on the directions of party vice-president Mohammad Sartaj Madni, the spokesman said.
