Secy Jal Shakti reviews implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in Bandipora

Bandipora: Commissioner Secretary, Jal Shakti, M. Raju, on Friday reviewed implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), a centrally sponsored programme aimed at providing tap water to every rural household, in Bandipora district.
The meeting was attended Deputy Commissioner, Dr Owais Ahmad, Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti, Iftikhar Kakroo, Superintendent Engineer Hydraulic; Joint Director Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti and other concerned officers.
DC gave a detailed presentation about JJM achievements registered in the district so far. He informed that Bandipora was the first district to launch door to door census in 2019- 20 for coverage of functional Household Tap Connections, quality supply and working quantity requirements in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that Rs 309 crore plan has been approved for Bandipora, which envisages construction of 30 new Filteration plants, 60 Reservoirs in addition to 100 per cent coverage of HHs with functional water connections.
The meeting had threadbare discussion on several aspects of implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission including status of tendering and administrative approval of retrofitting schemes, coverage action plan for providing water facility to remaining HHCS in the district and several other issues of public importance.
DC assured that 100 per cent FHTCs shall be provided to the eligible beneficiaries before 31st August, however, structures shall be completed by the year end.
Secretary exhorted upon the officers to work in tandem to achieve desired results within the stipulated time frame. He asked them to achieve the complete targets under the Mission by ending August this year. He directed the Engineers to ensure coverage of all schools and Anganwari centers by 31st of May and all Health centres and panchayat ghars by 30th of June.
He asked the District JJM Committee to hire support agency from 7 empanelled agencies of UT for proper IEC campaigns. He also asked to provide PHE related skill development training to 600 persons who would be identified by the respective PRIs. In this regard, he directed the SE hydraulic circle to compile a list within a week’s time.
