Srinagar/ April, 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum in a statement on Friday decried the J&K administration’s latest order which empowers the administration to constitute a Special Task Force to dismiss or take other punitive action against the government employees allegedly found in “anti-national” activities without holding any inquiry.
In a statement issued here Chairman JKCSF and former President Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC ) Abdul Qayoom Wani termed the order arbitrary, draconian and against the interests of employees of J&K.
Stating that there are already service rules to deal with the erring employees of all kinds and to take action against such employees, Wani said the latest order can be used as a handy tool by the government and bureaucrats to suppress their subordinates for unjustified excuses.
“By virtue of this order employees have been again pushed to the wall which is likely to affect the efficient work culture in the government and private sector offices”, reads the statement, adding that “employees are the basic units of administrative machinery that make the whole system operate” , stating therein that If any one is malfunctioning, there is an inbuilt service rule mechanism to mend it but it is quite illogical to through it out arbitrarily.
He further said that dismissing an employee or taking punitive action against him/her without holding any inquiry is against the principles of justice and basic rights. Stating that an employee is first a citizen and has all the human and constitutional rights, Wani in his statement said “JKCSF urges the govt to reconsider its decision and revoke it’s unjustified order to boil down the anger and discontentment among the ranks of employees” .
