Field Outreach Bureau organises Webinar on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at Rajouri

Rajouri: Field Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Rajouri Thursday organised a Webinar on “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” with a special focus on the contribution of Freedom Fighters, their role during the freedom struggle against British rule in India.
The webinar was organised under the overall supervision of Neha Jalali, Deputy Director, Regional Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India J&K and Ladakh UTs and Press Information Bureau, Jammu.
The Webinar was organised in close coordination with Government Degree College, Poonch and DIC, Poonch.
In her key note address, Neha Jalali, Deputy Director, highlighted the importance of celebrations of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
Interacting with the participants, she said that role of Freedom fighters- Moderates and revolutionaries can never be forgotten. She also informed that Regional Outreach Bureau, Government of India has already started a number of activities to aware masses about the freedom struggle of India against British Rule.
Prof Syed Mussafar Hussain Shah, Principal Government Degree College, Poonch, who headed the team of Resource persons, provided an overview of India’s Independence. He highlighted the role of Indians against British Rule and supreme sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to free India from British Rule. He was of the view that such webinars would go a long way in creating awareness of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which has been designed to pay homage to our freedom fighters.
Prof Fateh Mohammad Abbasi, while speaking on Revolt of 1857, said that the revolt of 1857 was a big jolt to British rule in India and described the revolt as eye opener and a basic path for democracy of India.
Citing the example of Mangal Pandey and other freedom fighters, he said that their contribution played a pivotal role in attaining the Freedom. He also urged that such Webinars should be organised frequently to aware masses about Freedom struggle of India’s Independence.
Prof. Shazad Banday, spoke on the contribution of unsung Freedom Fighters, and their role in India’s Independence. He said that Mother India saw the sacrifices of millions of revolutionary leaders and Freedom Fighters to Free India from the British cruel rule. He described unsung freedom fighters as fierce as others, had the courage to stare death in the eyes, and at last dedicated their lives for the cause of Independence. They kept the Wheel of revolution rolling around and compelled the Britishers to leave our Country.
Pardeep Khanna, Cultural Activist and a renowned personality of Poonch district, also participated in the webinar as a guest speaker.
In his address, he highlighted the contribution of the Poets in India’s Independence. He also recited poetry on Pre and Post 1857 Era and paid tributes to the Freedom Fighters of India’s Independence.
Khursheed Yousuf, Field Publicity Officer, Udhampur while welcoming the dignitaries, said that these webinars are part of the celebrations of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and need to be organised with the support and coordination of various agencies/ departments.
Shahid Mohammad Lone, Field Publicity Officer, Anantnag presented the vote of thanks and extended his gratitude to Principal Govt. Degree College, Poonch, guest speakers and all participants for sparing their valuable time and extending their cooperation, coordination in support in making the webinar successful.
The Webinar was moderated by Gurnam Singh, In-charge Field Outreach Bureau, Rajouri.
