Div Com (J) inspects progress on mega dev projects in Rajouri; listens to public issues

Rajouri: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer, who is on two day visit to Rajouri Tuesday conducted an extensive tour of the border district and inspected the progress of various development projects there.
The Div Com was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh Kumar Shavan; Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Sher Singh; Additional SP, Liaquat Choudhary, EXN PWD, Mohd Zubair; other concerned district officers.
At the outset, the Divisional Commissioner inspected 120 Mtrs single lane motorable Abdullah bridge on Rajouri Tawi. The EXN PWD informed that the project was sanctioned under languishing projects involving Rs 620 lakh being executed by PWD.
t was also informed that the original date for the completion of the project was March, 2021. He also assured that the project would be completed by June , 2021.
The Div Com directed the concerned EXN PWD to adhere to the timelines and maintain the quality standards in the construction work. He also directed to issue notice to the contractor for delay in the completion of the projects.
The Div Com instructed the DDC to rehabilitate the slum areas coming under the bridge.
The Divisional Commissioner also inspected the progress of work on 160 Mtrs span double plan PSC Girder motorable Panjpeer to Badala Mang bridge being executed by JKPCC under CRF.
It was informed that the pillars of the bridge have been completed and work has been struck up due to a defence land issue.
The Div Com discussed the issues that are hampering work progress and directed the concerned to resolve the same on priority. He also directed the executing agencies to ensure timely completion of the bridge so that the congestion in the city can be mitigated.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner also took stock of progress on the under construction building of Government Medical College Rajouri. The Div Com took a round of various blocks of the building and inspected the work progress.
It was informed that the Academic and Administration block is almost complete, while work on other components of the project is in progress. While inspecting the classrooms, the Div Com said that the height of the classroom is very less and directed the EXN to install a Smart screen in the classrooms.
The Div Com issued directions for completion of projects at the earliest, sewerage treatment plant, principal quarter, Hostel for boys, girls and nursing hostel to be completed on priority.
The Div Com also passed instructions for the provision of boundary walls around the premises of the complex. He also suggested the installation of smart screens in the classrooms.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner also met scores of deputations here at Dak bungalow Rajouri and gave a patient hearing to the grievances highlighted by them.
The deputations were led by the Block Development Chairpersons, Sarpanches, representatives from the ULBs, trader unions, refugee groups, contractors and sports association.
Issues related to inadequate water supply, macadamization and renovation of roads, up-gradation of schools, better health services and related issues were projected on the occasion.
Specific issues projected on the occasion included the start of work on GDC and Kendriya Vidyalaya Buildings at Doongi, repair, renovation and blacktopping of roads, sanctioning of a JK Bank branch, poor internet connectivity, sanctioning of Degree college, the opening of sectoral offices at Qila Darhal, the establishment of a milk collection centre at Qila Darhal, sanctioning of additional border bunkers, sanctioning of a JK Bank branch sanctioning of funds under BADP at Doongi etc.
Some more issues included blacktopping of New Bus Stand Rajouri, sanctioning of a JK Bank branch at Prori Gujjran, lack of coordination between the Administration and the PRIs, sanctioning of additional handpumps to meet the shortage of drinking water supply, lack of Government building for BDO office at Dhangri, trauma centre at Dhangri, sanctioning of panchayat ghar buildings at each panchayat etc.
Other issues include completion of work on circular road, construction of a jogging path from Salani bridge to Cremation Ground, shortage of drinking water supply in Rajouri Town, replacement of worn-out water pipes, completion of work on Koteranka to Khawas road, the release of special funds in favour of Refugees in the district, political reservation of the refugees, shortage of medical staff in GMC Rajouri, construction of a mini secretariat building, warehouse etc.
They also demanded the restoration of Chopper service, construction of road from Pathan Mohra to Keri, removal of illegal encroachment on Government property, construction of road from Panja Chowk to Dhani Dhar, construction of a sports stadium near New Bustand Rajouri, lack of coaches at sports stadium kheora,
The Div Com gave a patient hearing to all the grievances projected on the occasion and assured that all their genuine grievances would be redressed in a time-bound manner.
He also sought the cooperation of the prominent citizens in the fight against the COVID19 pandemic and urged upon them to generate massive awareness among the common masses about the steps to be taken to remain safe from the CoronaVirus infection.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Sher Singh; Additional SP, Liyaqat Chowdhury; Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf; Assistant Commissioner Development, Sushil Khajuria; Tehsildar Rajouri, Mohd Rafeeq, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Rajouri, Mushtaq Ahmed, Executive Engineer PWD Rajouri, Mohd Zubair were also present on the occasion.
