3 drug peddlers arrested in Ang, Contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police in Anantnag said on Monday that it has arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police statement issued on Monday said “ Officers at a checkpoint established at Hassanpora area of Bijbehara intercepted a suspected Maurti car bearing registration number JK01M-3811 for checking and recovered 270gms of Charas from the possession of the driver”, adding that “ the accused was identified as Sameer Ahmad Dar resident of Lasjan Srinagar ,formally arrested and shifted to police station and the vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized”. Police in it’s statement also said that a case vide FIR No. 75/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Bijbehara and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Stating that in yet another similar incident officers at a checkpoint established at Sarnal area of Anantnag intercepted two individuals identified as Aqib Ahmad Bhat resident of Lonepora Mattan and Mustafa Wani alias Beta Don resident of Sarnal Bala and recovered 35 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from their possession, police in the above referred statement further said that the accused were arrested after identificatiom and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that a case vide FIR No. 98/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Anantnag and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to reassure people that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
