Woman injured in CRPF firing at Awantipora

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that a woman on injured in a firing incident at Awantipora.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said “ one vehicle (Wagon-R) bearing registration number JK01J-8038 was on Saturday asked to stop at about 515hrs at Awantipora Chowk by a police party but the driver did not stop the vehicle and hit one police personnel namely SgCt Naser Ullah due to which he got injured and the said vehicle escaped from the spot”.
Stating that “ vehicle was again signalled to stop at Padgampora bridge but the driver did not stop the vehicle and accordingly the CRPF 130 Bn deployed at the said naka fired warning aerial shot and yet again the driver did not stop the vehicle, police in it’s statement said “ due to the mistaken identity over suspicious act of the driver, the vehicle was fired upon by CRPF party, resulting in tyre burst of the said vehicle. In the ensuing incident, one lady namely Jaisi Parvaiz Sheikh (who was travelling on the said vehicle) daughter of Parvaiz Ahmed Sheikh resident of Muran, Pulwama sustained bullet injuries in her right arm”.
The police in it’s statement also said that moreover, the driver of said vehicle identified as Junaid Tariq Dar son of Tariq Ahmed Dar resident of Bedalpora, Handwara has been arrested and vehicle has also been seized. Stating that the injured lady was shifted to SDH Awantipora by Police and then referred to Bones and Joints Hospital, Srinagar for further treatment, police in the above referred statement said that condition of the injured woman is stated to be stable and the injured police personnel who was hit by the said vehicle is also stable”. Police in the above referred statement furthermore said that a case FIR No.48/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is going on.
