MD, DDC visit proposed site of 25 MW HEP over Ans River

Reasi: Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC), Dr Shah Faesal and District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Saturday visited the proposed site of 25 MW Ans-I hydro electric project over river Ans.

The officers were accompanied by engineers, experts, district administration and local people of Village Thuroo who held joint inspection of the proposed site near Dharmari.

The team of experts has shown positive sign to the feasibility and other criterion required for conception of the project so far. The experts have taken into account all seismic, geo-technical, environmental, land and other related issues.

While interacting with the people, Managing Director said process has been initiated by corporation to undertake small scale power generation projects in the state to improve power infrastructure in general and providing electricity to the people in particular.

DDC Reasi evinced keen interest and assured all sorts of help and coordination to the Managing Director so that project gets started at an earliest. He said revenue teams will be pressed into service for resolving revenue related issues besides ensuring regular monitoring.

General Manger, Anil Kumar informed that the project has been selected under Prime Minister Development Plan (PMDP). He also said tender for DPRs has been floated which would be followed by work allotment tender and it is expected that by 2022, the project will be culminated with an estimated cost of 200 to 250 crore rupees.

It was further disclosed that 15 such hydroelectric projects would be constructed in the state which include 5 in Leh, 5 in Kargil, 3 in Kashmir and 2 in Jammu.

Apart from generating power, the project would also open up employment opportunities for hundreds of young people of Thuroo, Hunder, Arnas, Matlote, Kanthi, Thillo, Bhallar, Mahore, Gari and other connected hamlets on either side of the river.
