Srinagar: Incumbent Member of Parliament from Srinagar constituency and National Conference (NC) President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who was tested positive for COVID-19 a few days back, was on Saturday shifted to SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for specialized treatment.
After showing some symptoms, Senior Abdullah was tested positive for COVID-19 on March 30.
Sources within the party said a team of doctors visited the residents of Farooq Abdullah Saturday morning following which they found his oxygen saturation down and advised him to get hospitalized for some days.
They said the doctors advised senior Abdullah to visit a prominent hospital in New Delhi, which he refused and preferred to get hospitalized in a hospital in Srinagar. Abdullah has been admitted at Covid-19 designated ward in SKIMS Soura.
“Dr. Sahab has been advised to stay in the hospital for two-three days keeping in view of his already ailing health condition,” they said, adding that he was feeling better in the afternoon and spoke with the family.
Farooq Abdullah’s son and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah in a tweet Saturday morning shared the news about the health condition of his father and said that his family was grateful to everyone for their support and prayers.
“Based on the advice of doctors to enable them to better monitor my father, he has been admitted to hospital in Srinagar. Our family remains grateful to everyone for their messages of support & their prayers,” Omar tweeted.
Meanwhile, when contacted the top officials at SKIMS including Director A G Ahangar as well as Medical Superintendent Farooq Jan, they refused to talk about the health condition of Farooq Abdullah, saying that they are not authorized to speak over the issue.
However, one of the officials informed that he is stable and is doing well. The official further informed that the doctors have hospitalized him as precautionary measure due to comorbidities and his age
