Welfare schemes, measures being carried in mission mode: Advisor Farooq Khan

Srinagar:: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan Wednesday said that Government is committed for welfare and upliftment of the weaker sections of the society and welfare measures have been undertaken in a mission mode to ensure better results on ground.
Advisor was speaking at Disbursement and Scholarships and an award Ceremony function organized by Al Amen JK Foundation in collaboration with A3N IT Services under Shishu Vikas Yojna at Auditorium of DIPR here.
On the occasion, Director FCS&CA, Wednesday Bashir Ahmad Khan, Director Social Welfare, Kashmir, Wednesday Bashir Ahmad Dar, OSD to Advisor, Wednesday Mohammed Ashraf Hakak and Project Manager A3N IT services, Wednesday Neeraj Kumar were present.
The Advisor called for greater awareness about various welfare schemes being run by the Department so that people can avail their benefits. He highlighted the government’s initiatives taken during the last two years for the welfare of needy people and the marginally weaker section of the society. He said the government is taking all out efforts to ensure transparency in all welfare schemes besides cent percent implementation on ground.
The Advisor said that about 9 lakh deserving people are being covered under different social welfare schemes for financial assistance every month and during the last 18 months 3 lakh cases of needy people were added which were pending for long time. He said pendency and backlog have been reduced to zero besides; a single window system for beneficiaries has been created to ensure they do not visit from one office to other office to get requisite documents for the financial assistance. The applicant has to submit his application in the office of district Social Welfare Office and thereafter it is responsibility of that office to get whole process completed, he added.
The Advisor lauded the efforts of various NGOs for providing different kind of support to the needy people and assured them that government will support in such kind of human services. He urged them to help government in identifying the real beneficiary if any left out due to lack of awareness.
The Advisor said youth are future of the nation and to guide them to right path is the responsibility of one and all. He said third party audit in Government schools to benchmark their excellence is important so that best products are produced to serve and lead the nation towards new heights of progress and development. And in this regard various schools have been upgraded to model schools so that students avail best and quality education.
He also urged the youth and women to come forward and avail benefits from government schemes that are being undertaken to empower youth and women by helping them to establish their income generating units.
On the occasion, the Advisor distributed certificates and cheques among the beneficiaries under the Shishu Vikas Yojna.
