Budgam: Police in Budgam have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police statement said “on a credible input, Officers from PS Chrar-i-Sharief along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class raided a residential house of a drug peddler identified as Mehraj-ud-din Shah resident of Nowhar Chrar-i-Sharief from where 900gms of Charas were recovered during searches following which the drug peddler was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”.
The statement also said that the detained drug peddler was found involved in smuggling drugs and distributing it among gullible masses in return of hefty profit following which a case FIR No. 08/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Chrar-i-Sharief and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
