Delina: North Campus, University of Kashmir in collaboration with Jhelim Valley Forest Division Baramulla organized a Chinar/Conifer plantation drive at the Campus under Green J&K plantation scheme of the government. Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Qazi, senior most faculty member and Mr. Parvaiz Ahmad Wani (Divisional Forest Officer) and other officials present on the occasion inaugurated the drive. Ten chinar and two hundred ninety conifer saplings were planted on the occasion.
While inaugurating the drive, Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Qazi spoke about the importance of plants in the preservation of life on the earth. He said, “ ann poshi teli yeli wann poshi” and emphasized on the need of planting more and more trees.Mr.Parvaiz Ahmad, Divisional Forest Officer, Jhelim Valley Forest, Division Baramulla, introduced the flagship scheme under which crores of saplings are being planted in the month of March. He further said that “ for the preservation of life, plantation of trees is the top most priority of the Department as such initiatives contribute to sustainable and harmonious development of life under the sun.”
