Srinagar: Kulgam Police have arrested 5 gamblers from a gambling site and seized ₹9020/- stake money from their possession.
A police statement issued on Saturday said “ s police party of Police Station Qazigund raided a gambling site at village Amaanpora after following an input about gambling activities and apprehended 05 gamblers”, adding that “ the accused were identified as Tariq Ahmad Sheikh resident of Aakhran, Mohd Idrees Naikoo resident of Amaanpora Kaatran and Rouf Ahmad Ahangar, Imran Ahmad Bhat and Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh all residents of Kaatran”.
Claiming that Officers have seized playing cards, 4 mobile phones and stake money of ₹9020/- from their possession, the police in it’s statement said the accused were arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case FIR No. 48/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated, police in the concluding para of it’s statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
