Srinagar: Police in Awantipora have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police statement issued on Saturday said “Officers at a check point established at Galander Byepass intercepted a vehicle (Tata Nano) bearing registration number JK01P-4633 with three persons on board identified as Bilal Ahmad khan son of Ghulam Mohiuddin khan, Javid Ahmad khan son of Ghulam Mohiuddin khan both residents of resident of Ringballa Kupwara and Gazanfar Mukhtar resident of Rawalpora Sannatnagar and recovered from them 6 Kgs of grinded Cannabis”, adding that, “ they were arrested and shifted to PS Pampore where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized”.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 29/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated, police in it’s above referred statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
