Srinagar: Former Minister Prof Saif Ud Din Soz on Thursday said the notice of the Enforcement Directorate to PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is a measure of persecution in the eyes of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
In a statement issued on Thursday Soz said “a very large section of people in Jammu and Kashmir have felt sad and angry on the Central Govt.’s attempt to persecute Mehbooba Mufti and her colleagues, citing the latest notice of the Enforcement Directorate, as an example.Stating that since the last resort for the people is the Judiciary, Soz said “the judicial system in India has itself come under pressure for provision of judicial relief to those who summon-up their courage to criticize the Govt, adding that “it is not for nothing that the Freedom in the World 2020 report ranks India at the 83rd Position, which is nearly the lowest, bracketing India with countries like Senegal in Africa”.
Reminding that former Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Raghuram Rajan, in his recent interview to the NDTV found that certain social and political policies of the Central Govt. have even caused a downfall of the growth in Indian Economy to as low as 4%, which is one of lowest in the world, the former Union Minister said “a large section of Kashmiris felt sad and concerned against the measures of persecution let loose by the Central Govt. against the Mainstream Kashmir, particularly, the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and her party colleagues like Naeem Akhter.”
