Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Member of Parliament from Baramulla Muhammad Akbar Lone on Monday expressed profound anguish over the unfortunate incident of conflagration that gutted 20 shops in a massive blaze, which broke out during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday in Watergam area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Expressing grief over the losses incurred by the traders, he said that the first floor of the complex has suffered extensive damage while the ground floor of the complex was partially damaged. “It is being said that most of the shops have no insurance cover. The losses incurred by the traders are immense making it imperative for the administration to step in. It is not just the infrastructure that has been damaged; the merchandise worth crores of rupees have also got ruined in the unfortunate incident. I express my unison with the affected traders in their difficult time. I hope and pray for their early revival,” he said.
He impressed upon the administration to award due compensation to the affected following early assessment of the losses incurred by them without delay. Meanwhile Party’s District President Baramulla Javed Dar has also urged the administration to provide succor to the affected traders. He has also extended sympathies to the affected and prayed for their early revival.
