DC Shopian reviews implementation of social welfare schemes

Shopian: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Friday held a detailed review of various schemes and programmes being implemented in the district by Social Welfare Department.
PO ICDS Bilqees Jan, DSWO Mohammad Shafait, CDPO Shopian-Keller Nazir Ahmad, Chairperson CWC Musharaf Gaffar, Women Welfare Officer Mohsina Mukhtar, members Juvenile Justice Board, members Child Welfare Committees, PO NIC Shazia Idrees, District Coordinators MSK and other field officials of the department were present in the meeting.
Giving details through PowerPoint presentation, DSWO informed that 9084 beneficiaries are being provided monthly pension of Rs. 1000 under Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) and 2155 under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) in the district. 360 new cases have been sanctioned against equal number of weed out cases during 2029-21 and only 29 cases are pending for sanction.
Regarding aadhaar seeding of bank accounts of beneficiaries, he said his office is endeavouring to ensure cent percent aadhaar seeding which is presently 65% under all pension schemes. He also apprised that under State Marriage Assistance Scheme 1662 beneficiaries have received payment at rates of Rs. 40000 per beneficiary.
The DDC directed to achieve cent percent aadhaar seeding of bank accounts of beneficiaries for eliminating duplications. He emphasised upon importance of weeding out process in ensuring that benefits entailed under pension schemes reach to genuine beneficiaries.
Regarding various scholarships schemes the DDC directed for holding zone wise camps in collaboration with education department to aware students about these schemes and procedure for applying, as many applications were rejected/ made defective due to procedural deficiencies.
The DSWO who is also District Child Protection Officer gave out details of work done by JJB, CWC and District Child Protection Unit in last two years.
The DDC stressed for sensitisation of Village and Block Level Child Protection Committees about Child Rights and various provisions of JJ Act so that an effective Child Protection Mechanism can be at place for safety and well being of children.
The PO ICDS gave details about the activities undertaken under various schemes like Supplementary Nutrition, Health Checkups, Mahila Shakti Kendra Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Poshan Abhayaan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG), BBBP and OSC for Women.
The DDC set deadline of March 8, 2021 for making the One Stop Centre for Women fully functional.
The DDC exhorted upon the officers to ensure effective implementation of all schemes in a focused and concerted way so that the desired objectives are achieved at the grassroots level. He also stressed for holding mass awareness programs about various schemes of Social Welfare Department utilizing the latest methods of mass communication as well as social media at village and block level.
