Jammu:  Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Yaseen has termed India-Pakistan agreement to stop cross-border firing in Kashmir a good omn for revival of peace.  He said the decision was a rare thaw in relations between the two neighbouring countries.
In a statement issued on Thursday Hakeem Yaseen said that the agreement between the militaries of Indian and Pakistan was a good step towards  bringing peace and tranquillity in the region especially in in trouble torn Jammu and Kashmir.” The decision would in particular bring relief to the border residents of jammu and kashmir whose lives  have become like hell due to heavy inter border firing between the militaries of two neighbouring countries. He hoped that  both the neighbouring countries would make a fresh begining towards resolution of thier all outstanding issue including kashmir problem. He said due to animosity and strained relations between India and pakistan on kashmir issue, both the countries have to spend millions of rupees on defence preparedness which , on revival good mutual relations, could be spend for the welfare and prosperity of thier respective peopIe. “However Jammu and Kashmir was the first caususlity of strained relations between india and Pakistan,” Hakeem Yaseen maintained.
PDF Chairman said that, now that the militaries of two neighbouring countries have agreed to strictly observe a ceasefire at the de facto border between the two countries in the disputed region of Kashmir, and other agreements, one can hope better days ahead in the south- Asian region. He said two neighbouring countries of India and pakistan should take all decisions taken by the former Prime Minister late  Atal Bihari Bajpeyi towards revival of peace in the region, to its logical end. He urged for opening of all trade routes across borders to make a fresh beginning towards revival of good relations between India and pakistan.
Pertinent to mention that the director-general’s of military operations (DGMO) of the Indian and Pakistani military held discussions over a hotline between their offices today morning where in  “Both sides agreed for strict observance of all agreements, understandings and cease firing along the [Line of Control] and all other sectors, with effect from midnight [on Friday],” said the statement.
