Rajouri DDC elections: NC grab Chairperson post, Cong gest VC post

Jammu : The members of District Development Council (DDC) Rajouri Friday elected Chairperson and the vice chairperson of the District Council here at a meeting chaired by the District Election Officer, Rajesh Kumar Shavan.
At the outset, the District Election Officer gave a brief introduction about the election procedure. The election process commenced with the filing of nomination for chairperson and vice chairperson by the DDC members.
After scrutiny of the nomination paper, voting and counting, Advocate Naseem Liaquat of National Conference; the DDC member from Budhal Old-B was declared elected for the post of chairperson, while Shabir Khan of Congress; the DDC member Manjakote Constituency was declared Vice Chairperson by District Election Officer Rajouri.
While speaking on the occasion, the DPEO congratulated the newly elected Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of District Rajouri. He hoped that with the establishment of three-tier Panchayat Raj Institution, the developmental process at grassroots level will get a further boost.
The DPEO also complimented the people of the District Rajouri for their wholehearted participation in the DDC elections. He added that the Government has empowered Panchayats through devolution of funds, functions and functionaries.
Among others present were Additional Deputy commissioner Rajouri, Sher Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mohd Ashraf; Election Naib Tehsildar, Surjeet Singh and other staff of the Election Department.
Later DC Rajouri, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, administered oath of office to Advocate Naseem Liaquat as Chairperson and Shabeer Khan as Vice Chairperson of District Development Council Rajouri,
SSP, Chandan Kohli; ADC Rajouri, Sher Singh; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; ACR, Mohd Ashraf; SE Jal Shakti Department, SR Shukla; GM DIC, Manzoor Hussain; PO ICDS; Kartar Singh; ACD, Sushil Khajuria, DFO Rajouri, Arshdeep Singh DSEO, DFO Nowshera, Suresh Manda; DFO SF, Rakesh Kumar; DSEO , Bilal Mir; Executive Engineers of PWD, PDD, Jal Shakti Department , PMGSY besides the other district officers were present during the oath taking ceremony.
Besides, the oath taking ceremony was also attended by the BDC Chairpersons, DDC Members and prominent citizens and relatives.
