Srinagar: Police in Awantipora have arrested an extortionist with toy pistol and 4 rounds of SLR from his possession near village Barsoo, Awantipora on National Highway.
A police statement issued on Tuesday said “one person who was trying to extort money from a person near village Barsoo, Awantipora was arrested and has been identified as Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh son of Abdul Rehman Sheikh resident of Dalwach Beerwah, Budgam”, adding that “ during checking, officers recovered one toy Pistol, one Knife and 4 SLR-rounds from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody”.
Stating that a case FIR number 23/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora, police in it’s above referred statement said “ further any connection of the arrested person with terrorists for possessing 4 rounds of SLR is being investigated”.
