Inter District Girls U/17 volleyball Tournament begins in Doda

Doda: To promote sports culture and facilitate the students showcase their talent, the Department of Youth Services & Sports Department Doda Monday organized Inter District Girls U/17 volleyball Tournament here at Boys Higher Secondary School Doda.
The tournament was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kishori Lal Sharma in presence of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jaffar Haider Sheikh; Assistant Director Physical Education Jammu, Mool Raj; ZPEO, Bhalla Pritam Singh and I/C ZPEO Doda Kishori Lal.
The Tournament is being organised under the patronage of Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K Dr. Saleem-ul-Rehman and District Development Commissioner Doda.
As many as 15 district teams of J&K are participating in the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that students of Doda district have enormous talent and potential and such events provide them an opportunity to hone their skills and aspire for national and international level competitions. The ADC Doda also interacted with the students and highlighted the benefit of sports.
The DYSSO Doda informed that about 180 girl students drawn from 15 districts are participating in the tournament.
In the inaugural matches, District Srinagar beat District Reasi by 2-1 sets; District Samba thrashed District Pulwama by 2-0 sets; District Rajouri won the match by beating District Udhampur by 2-0 sets; District Kathua beat District Bandipura by 2-0 sets; District Poonch won by beating District Ganderbal by 2-0 sets and District Budgam defeated District Anantnag.
The event was attended among other by Javed Ahmed, Amit Sharma, Raj Bushan, Ashok Kumar, Vikram Singh, Ifroz Hussain, Tariq Malik, all Lecturers and PEMs of sports Department.
The matches were officiated by expert panel – Mudasser Butt, PET, Murtaza Qadir, PET, Dara Singh, PET, Vinod Kumar, PEM, Zahoor Illahi PET, Ishtaq, REK, Imran, REK, Jai Shree, PET, Satya Davi, PET, Babita Devi, PET and other officials.
