Handicraft Directors call on Dev Comr Handicrafts, Handlooms

New Delhi: In order to strengthen and build up business ecosystem for the artisans of Jammu & Kashmir, a delegation of officers of J&K Government Wednesday called on Development Commissioner Handicrafts, Shantmanu and Development Commissioner Handlooms, Sanjay Rastogi at Ministry of Textiles here.
Mahmood Shah, Director Handicrafts and Handlooms Kashmir and Vikas Gupta, Director Handicrafts and Handlooms Jammu who met the Development Commissioner exchanged thoughts on collaborating and garnering support from them besides other technical assistance. The delegation also submitted a proposal to conduct a special event for promoting artisans and their handicrafts from Jammu and Kashmir at Dilli Haat.
During the meeting with Development Commissioner Handlooms, the officers discussed development of handloom clusters in Jammu and Kashmir alongwith capacity building and trainings for artisans. They also discussed marketing initiatives that can be taken up for promotion of handlooms from Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, the visiting delegation had successfully interacted with various agencies and officers at the Centre for calibrating promotion of handlooms and handicrafts from Jammu and Kashmir, creating outreach to wider set of audience and markets across India.
The delegation also interacted with the senior officers of Export Promotion Council of India and Invest India. R K Verma, ED EPCH, while interacting with the visiting officers apprised them about the working of EPCH and assured support in marketing of products, training of artisans along with designing for JK products. He also briefed them about the role of EPCH in promoting the Products at International fairs markets.
The visiting officers also met Vice President, Invest India, Dushyant Thakor and discussed One District one Product initiative of Ministry of Commerce GOI with him.
The Vice President assured them of providing support in doing capacity building workshops for augmenting the department with new skills and acquiring best talent.
