Srinagar: PDP President and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti presently also Vice President Peoples’ Alliance For Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Tuesday blamed senior officers of police and civil administration of violating the mandate of the people saying that two months were given to buy and intimidate the DDC members.
Mehbooba has hit out at the key government functionaries after PDP and National Conference despite having majority of Councilors failed to get DDC Chairman posts. In Srinagar, Apni Party member was elected DDC Chairman with the support of BJP while in Budgam, despite having majority, National Conference was defeated.
Taking to micro blogging social networking site twitter Mehbooba wrote “disgusting that senior officers in admin and police have taken it upon themselves to violate the mandate of people. By scrapping Article 370, BJP had already murdered insaniyat and Kashmiriyat. Now by manipulating DDC results, they’ve put the final nail in the coffin of Jamhuriyat.”
She also said “So much for Vajpayee ji’s vision of insaniyat, Kashmiriyat & jamhuriyat. Not surprised at all by recent DDC Chairmanship results. Two months were given to buy & intimidate the DDC members.”
Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had just two days back in almost a similar tweet said “Shopian DDC election, even Srinagar for that matter, aren’t really a surprise. These people have been buying & selling elected representatives since 1984. Practice makes perfect!”
