Medical camp under POSHAN Abhiyan held at Panchayat Ghar Tapyal

Ghagwal: ICDS Project Ghagwal Tuesday organised Home augmented iron rich food  recipe demonstration cum medical camp under POSHAN Abhiyan, here at Panchayat Ghar Tapyal.District programme Officer, ICDS Project, Samba, Anu Behl was the chief guest on the occasion.She was accompanied by Medical Officer, Dr Rimpee; Child Development Project Officer Ghagwal and Supervisors of ICDS project Ghagwal.

Speaking on the occasion, the District programme Officer said POSHAN Abhiyan is an appropriate platform for fighting malnourishment with the participation of people. She further said the POSHAN Abhiyan is a movement for the people ,of the people and with the people. “One of the aspects of POSHAN Abhiyan is to look after first 1000 days of children and best possible care of this period will ensure that children our future heritage will be healthy” she added.She also emphasised on identifying the malnourished children by Anganwadi centres for curing the problem at its root.During the camp, giving the message of Anaemia Mukt Bharat and providing strategy to counter anaemia by consuming iron rich foods, the anganwadi workers demonstrated easy to cook recipes from easily available food ingredients from local cuisine.

Medical officer Dr Rimpee, growth monitored children for malnourishment and also checked them for childhood related diseases. Around 100 people including pregnant women, lactating mothers and children were benefitted.During the camp 3 Severely Acute Malnutrition children (SAM), 1 Moderate Acute malnutrition (MAM) child, 3 Anaemic Adolescent girls were identified . The people were made aware about necessary nutritional changes to remove all kind of nutritional deficiencies.Meanwhile, the SAM children were adopted by Supervisor concerned of ICDS project Ghagwal.
