Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate menace of drugs from the society, Police in Srinagar have arrested one drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police statement issued on Monday said “a police party of Police Station Rainawari headed by SHO PS Rainawari established a checkpoint at Kathidarwaza Rainawari where they intercepted a person identified as Bilal Ahmad Shah @ Sagar resident of Makhdoom Sahib Rainawari, Srinagar”, adding that “during checking, officers recovered 134 grams of Charas from the possession of the accused who has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 05/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Rainawari and further investigation into the matter has been initiated, police in it’s statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein that “actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace”.
