Srinagar: The District Election Officer (DEO) Kupwara, Imam Din Tuesday said that the election for DDC chairperson and the vice-chairperson will be held on 8 February.
Earlier on the counting day, the state election authority stopped the counting of Drugmulla constituency saying that the details filed by a female candidate, a resident of Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PaK), was wrong.
Deputy Commissioner Cum District Election Officer (DEO) Kupwara said that the election for both the chairperson and the vice-chairperson will be held in February without considering the Drugmulla constituency since the majority is already available.
“The decision about the Drugmulla constituency is pending with the government and whatever is decided will be done. There is no issue with the scheduled election for chairperson and vice-chairperson since the majority of DDC members are available for voting,” he said.
“There are options for the Drugmulla constituency including the counting, cancellation even the elections can be re-conducted but it depends on the decision of the government,” DEO said
