DDC Ang for effective implementation of WWS for women empowerment

Ang: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, K.K.Sidha Friday called for effective implementation of Women Welfare Schemes (WWS) for women empowerment in the district.
During a meeting convened here, the DDC directed the concerned officers to follow a collective approach for empowering women for which the Ministry of Women & Child Development has taken an initiative through many outreach programmes of ICDS.
He stressed for effective coordination and monitoring of various sectoral programmes run by ministry or through NGO’s and directed for universalization of ICDS schemes, nutrition programme for adolescent girl, protection of child rights and protection of women from domestic violence.
Sidha directed the concerned officers to come up with calendar wise programmes of different activities under which women can be provided skill development training and awareness of various employment oriented schemes in agriculture and allied sectors, NRLM, Handicrafts, Handlooms, Fisheries, Bee keeping and other sectors for the next financial year.
The DDC directed the officers of One Stop Centre and Mahila Shakti Kendra District Level Centre (DLC) to ensure proper implementation of the schemes address the legal issues and domestic violence cases, labour and crime cases and focus on social counseling of the beneficiaries.
He also directed for identifying genuine and deserving beneficiaries of the district to provide awareness and training for their upliftment and stressed for establishment of video conferencing facility centre.
Earlier, One Stop Centre and Mahila Shakti Kendra DLC through a Power Point presentation highlighted the achievements made till date for the upliftment and empowerment of women by providing counseling and psychological and legal support to the beneficiaries.
Among others the meeting was attended by SDMS of Dooru, Kokernag and Bijbehara, ACD, DPO, DSWO, officers from ICDS, Handicrafts, Handlooms, Health, education, rural development, NRLM and officers of one stop centre and Mahila Shakti Kendra, Chief Officers from Agriculture and allied sectors besides BDOs.
