Advisor Farooq Khan visits Kishtwar, reviews dev works, meets delegations

Kishtwar: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, Thursday visited Kishtwar district and reviewed various development works and welfare schemes being executed in the district in a meeting held with the district administration.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sharma, apprised the Advisor of various schemes under implementation in the district by various departments besides highlighting achievements in various sectors.

While reviewing progress on languishing projects being executed by various departments including 45 different works amounting Rs 11982.39 crore, he asked the implementing agencies to prepone all the completion deadliness from 31 December, 2021 to 31 October, 2021 as working season ends in the month of October in Kishtwar besides asked them to complete all the works on time.

Taking strong notice of dismal performance of various executing agencies and private contractors in completing the alloted works, he directed the executing agencies to take stringent action against the erring besides cancelling their contract and inviting fresh tenders, wherever necessary.

Advisor also took stock of impediments faced by the departments in smooth execution and the implementation of various development projects and assured that he will take up the issues with the concerned Advisors so that same could be sorted out.

Meanwhile, several delegations of BDC Chairpersons, DDC members, Sarpanchs and Panchs besides a deputation of Construction Workers Union and 7 other delegations of political parties, social organizations, senior and prominent citizens also met the Advisor and apprised him of their grievances  and concerns seeking an early redressal to the same.

A delegation led by PRIs apprised the Advisor of several issues including employment of locals in the ongoing Hydro electric power projects on priority basis, inclusion of left out families in RR plans in the area of Dangduru, Dul and  Keru, establishment of telecommunication and connectivity facilities in far flung areas of Dachhan, Marwah and Warwan, up gradation of schools in far flung areas, establishment of Fair Price shops at Kuntwara, early release of compensation for land, completion of languishing projects, augmentation of  Health Sub Centres, repair of road from Dunadi to Kither, widening of road at Bhandarkoot, doing away with water scarcity at Drabshalla and Palmar, replacement of wooden poles, sanctioning of Grid station at Drabshalla, establishment of fire service stations at Mughal maidan and   Chatroo, early release of MGNREGA payments, completion of WSS Naigad, release of pending honorarium of BDC and Sarpanchs.

Besides, delegations of j Daily Wager Association, political parties and Labour Union presented their demands before the Advisor.

Advisor gave them a patient hearing and redressed most of the grievances on the spot besides assured them that rest of grievances would be redressed in time bound manner.

Advisor released an amount of Rs 40.77 lakh sanctioned under various schemes of Building and Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board in favour  of 85 beneficiaries.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar Dr. Harmeet Singh Mehta, Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Hanief Malik, DG Sports, Saleem Ur Rehman, Secretary Sports Council, Javid Iqbal, Director Horticulture Ram Sewak, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pawan Parihar, Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central) Abdul Sitar, Joint Director Planning, Mohammad Iqbal, Assistant Commissioner Development, Kishore Singh Katoch, Deputy Director FCS&CA Javid Iqbal and district officers were present in the meeting.
