Training held for officials of rev deptt at Surankote

Surankote: District Administartion Poonch held for training of Revenue Department officers and officials at Surankote.
The training programme was organised on the directions of District Development Commissioner, Poonch , Rahul Yadav (IAS) .The SDM Surankote Saleem Ahmed Qurashi And Tehsildar Surankote Sh Sheraz Ahmed Chouhan (KAS) imparted the necessary training to the participants about the salient features of the Act including various guidelines , roles , responsibility and composition of the various Committees.
The SDM informed that the first level basic component namely Forest Rights Committee (s) (FRC) have been formulated in all Panchayats of Tehsil Surankote which shall now act as the executive arm of Gram Sabha.
He further said that the Gram Sabha shall compile various claims regarding individual and community rights which will be verified by the FRCs and shall be send to the Sub Division level Committee which after due verification and consideration shall send to the District Level Committee for final approval and decision.
The Tehsildar Surankote spoke at length regarding technical aspects to be kept in mind regarding the verification of claims with respect to the record and land area involved. He directed the field staff to provide the required record to the Gram Sabhas through Block Development Officers immediately. He said that the Act recognises the rights of forest dwellers ( ST/OTFD) on the Forests and no new creation of such rights have to be done. He advised the field staff to remain very careful in the initial stage so that the verifications could be done effectively in order to avoid future litigation. He said the revenue department has to play a pivotal role in the implementation of this Act.The meeting cum training was held under the chairmanship of SDM , Surankote.
