Mehbooba Mufti was declared India’s poorest CM in 2018, present smear campaign condemnable : PDP

Srinagar/Jan,6: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday stated that there is no denial of the fact that Mehbooba Mufti was declared as the poorest chief minister in India in the year 2018 and present attempts to tarnish the image of the party president is part of the greater smear campaign against those who are up against the August 5, 2019 decision.
The party has said that such mischievous actions will not deter the PDP from fighting against the injustice being perpetuated against the people of Jammu and Kashmir in an institutionalised manner. In the year 2018, the Times of India in its survey declared Mehbooba Mufti one among the three poorest Chief Ministers in India with net assets not more than Rs 55lakh. Tripura CM Manik Sarkar and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee were the other two as per the survey.
In a statement issued here, senior PDP leader and former legislator Mohammad Khurshid Alam has said that efforts are being made on multiple fronts to demonise the PDP President so that the fight for Jammu and Kashmir’s core identity could get weakened somehow. The smear campaign, said Alam, being launched at present is part of that nefarious agenda which has a sole motive to make monstrous lies prosper and let truth die a dreadful death. After finding no trace of corruption against her , GOI started auditing the Mausoleum of Mufti Sahab , now they are accusing her for the purchases of different items that hospitality and Protocol department got for their store during her tenure .
Forgetting that this department besides catering to CM , also took care of the requirements of Deputy CM and Governor .He said that it is no hidden fact that Mehbooba Mufti was among three ‘poorest’ Chief Ministers in India in the year 2018 as per the plethora of reports and investigations. “Mehbooba Mufti along with her father, the PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed laid the foundation of the PDP by investing all her political experience and was successful in making PDP a guiding force in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape. Post August 5, 2019 Mehbooba Mufti is emerging as one of the strongest and fearless voices in Kashmir who in spite of all hardships, threats and detention is speaking truth to power,” said Alam.
