Awantipora police arrests 2 drug peddlers, contraband substance recovered, Cash amount of ₹50,000 seized

Awantipora : Police in Awantipora have arrested two notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession, besides, cash amount of ₹50,000 was also seized.
A police statement said “officers at a check point established at Reshipora Bunpora near irrigation gauge intercepted a vehicle Santro bearing registration No. JK03B-9591 with two persons on board identified as Gulazar Ahmad Ganie resident of Braw Bandina and Bilal Ahamd Bhat resident of Kulpora Lassipora Pulwama”.
Stating that during checking, officers were able to recover 2.20 kgs of Charas from their possession, the police in it’s statement further said “ officers have also seized cash amount of ₹50,000 from them, adding therein that they have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized”.
Disclosing that a case vide FIR No. 01/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated, the police in it’s statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
“Consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the people about the efforts made to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace”, the statement reads.
