PM’s DDC election remarks: Questioned more, believed less

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi choose to take pride in the conduct of the recently held DDC elections during the launch of “Sehat” scheme for J&K with Jammu & Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on virtual mode from Delhi last week and called this maiden election exercise after his government’s last year’s August 5 moves on erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state a new chapter in India’s democracy in Jammu & Kashmir but  question can be asked that is it  really so what Prime Minister has said given the fact that almost the same time a defector from National Conference was announcing her decision to join J&K Apni Paty with it’s President Syed Mohammad Bukhari at his party’s headquarters at Lal Chowk Srinagar. Undeniable reality is that when defections continue non stop in Jammu & Kashmir immediately after the announcement of DDC elections and charges of involvement of J&K police in the defection of DDC members from National Conference to J&K Apni party appear in media reports, the government owes too many explanations to the people of Jammu & Kashmir on the charges leveled against it over the defections of DDC members from other parties to J&K Apni Party. For all reasons the claims of the Prime Minister that DDC elections marked a new chapter in India’s democracy come into question on many counts and for a variety of reasons.

________________________________________________________

The allegations of involvement of Jammu & Kashmir police in defections of DDC members are more questionable and objectionable than the defections of DDC members from National Conference to J&K Apni party popularly called “ King’s Party” in Jammu & Kashmir because of it’s alleged proximity with the party ruling at the centre.  The Government has to put it’s record straight to prove it’s point that it means what Prime Minister of the country has publicly said about the conduct of DDC elections in Jammu & Kashmir.

________________________________________________________________

Had the Prime Minister choosen to convey his concern over the defections immediately after the DDC elections and sought an explanation from the J&K Government over the charges of the opposition parties against the government while inaugurating “Sehet” scheme on virtual mode with the J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, the people of Jammu & Kashmir won’t object to the views of the Prime Minister about the DDC elections vis-à-vis democracy at grass roots in Jammu & Kashmir. Since Prime Minister has not uttered even a single word about involvement of J&K police in the continuing spree of the defections of DDC members in Jammu & Kashmir, both the people in opposition and critics of the DDC poll initiative in Jammu & Kashmir raise questions over the Prime Minister’s statement about the conduct of DDC elections in Jammu & Kashmir. Shockingly the government neither talks about the anti-defection measures nor dispels the impression created by the allegations of the opposition parties and the criticism of the critics of the DDC poll initiative. In such a situation and scenario the allegations of involvement of Jammu & Kashmir police in defections of DDC members are more questionable and objectionable than the defections of DDC members from National Conference to J&K Apni party popularly called “ King’s Party” in Jammu & Kashmir because of it’s alleged proximity with the party ruling at the centre.  The Government has to put it’s record straight to prove it’s point that it means what Prime Minister of the country has publicly said about the conduct of DDC elections in Jammu & Kashmir.
