“Those we love and lose are always connected by heartstrings into infinity” Terri Guillemets
It’s was early morning and as usual as I opened my social media account I was shocked to saw a news making rounds on social media about the sad demise of one of Tycoon of our Nursing Profession Ms Haseena Wani Ex Nursing Superintendent SKIMS. Today, Jammu and Kashmir in particular and the whole country in general has lost one of its greatest Nursing Professionals. It is a great loss for our Profession that we lost a Dedicated, Passionate and most promising professional who has represented on various platforms at national and international levels. After completing B Sc. Nursing (1978-1982) and M.Sc Nursing from RAK college of Nursing 1987.to 1989.Was appointed in SKIMS as staff nurse in May 1982. Those were the days when SKIMS Soura was in infancy and the working conditions were not that much favorable. The dedication and burning desire to lift the profession which was inside her didn’t let her to stay silent , hence she took every possible effort to address the grievances of Profession. Besides her domestic work she used to work till late hours at office and used to go from one corner to another for the upliftment of Profession. Her dedication and hard work earned her Florence Nightingale award highest award of Nursing Professionals. The award was presented by President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She has worked on various positions in SKIMS as Supervisor, JNS, ANS, DNS and Superintendent. Played a pivotal and proactive role in the professional development and various recruitment processes. She was most outspoken and bearing a great talent of guidance and counseling. She was the lady behind establishment of stoma therapy unit in SKIMS and also attended the conference on stoma care in China. Haseena Wani who contributed as Principal of Madre Meharban College of Nursing SKIMS for many years has brought laurels to the said Nursing College. The college achieved great heights during her tenure. After retiring from the services as Principal MMINSR on 31st March 2017 she was offered the chair of Principal Alamdar College of Nursing and Joined as principal on 1st April 2017 and resigned from the said post on 28th February 2020. It’s difficult to find such a dedicated, experienced and hardworking person who has burnt her nights in making her Profession proud.
Great inning of one of the most enthusiastic, vigorous, splendid, dynamic, evergreen and above all a kind, helping, supportive and inspirational personality came to an end. The entire community is grieving the sad and untimely demise. We will miss your way of working and the contribution you have made to uplift the Profession is unforgettable. You were a iron lady. May almighty Allah give patience to the family members to bear the irreparable loss and bless you highest place in Jannat Ul Firdous. She set an example with her great administrative skills and utilized her efforts to improve the quality Nursing care and uplifted the nursing administration at SKIMS Soura. The precious friend and great professional left for heavenly abode. You are gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are so sorry for your loss. Words can’t express how saddened we are to hear of your loss. Today and always, may your loving memories bring peace, comfort, and strength to your family and friends?
