Jammu: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha addressed BHU IIT Chennai Chapter Malaviya Jayanti Celebrations-2020 through the virtual mode from Raj Bhavan here Friday.
While addressing the alumni of Banaras Hindu University from India and abroad, the Lt Governor paid heartfelt tributes to Bharat Ratna, Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji on his birth anniversary.
Expressing his sentiments on the day, the Lt Governor said – I am emotional Friday not only because of my deep connection with the BHU but because we are all carrying the fragrance of Mahamana inside.
I have heard that some initiatives were taken by the BHU in the recent past to organize workshops to carry forward Mahamana’s vision on Prachya Vidya. It is our collective responsibility to carry forward his vision, said the Lt Governor.
Speaking on the life of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the Lt Governor observed that Mahamana was a great orator, having vast knowledge of English as well as Sanskrit and he diligently worked for unity, communal harmony, and welfare of all sections of the society.
The Lt Governor observed that when Mahamana laid the foundation stone of BHU on 14 February 1916, he was thinking about the growth of the country, Industrialization, restructuring the society, and education. He was a visionary who realized the importance of modern education and the study of science and engineering to the overall development of the country and mankind. Friday BHU contributes to development across the globe by providing much sought-after manpower in the engineering sector. Thanks to the vision and foresight of Mahamana that we have not just been able to write our own development story but have made ourselves relevant to the world, the Lt Governor maintained.
The Lt Governor observed that Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji knew that independence would be meaningless unless we simultaneously prepared ourselves to build a new India. He wanted to make use of the latest scientific and technological knowledge to move on the path of development. But for his vision, it would not have been possible for our stagnating agricultural sector to bear the burden of the ever-growing population.
“Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji was of the firm opinion that for a strong nation, one requires strong Industry, and for a strong Industry, one requires a strong educational system. It was his understanding of the economy that shaped the vision for new India. On his birth anniversary, I would like to call upon the Engineering fraternity to rise to the ‘AatmaNirbhar’ call of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji”, asserted the Lt Governor.
While outlining Pandit Ji’s visionary approach, the Lt Governor remarked that we owe Industrialization of much of 20th-century progress to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji. He had envisioned an `AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ while suggesting that Indians must be provided with adequate administrative equipment and reliable scientific and technical advice.
Underlining the significant role of Engineering Fraternity, the Lt Governor observed that the world post-Covid-19 will require cutting edge innovation. We need to realize the potential of engineers & the Engineering Fraternity and must make a concerted effort to promote cloud computing, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, digital literacy, cyber security to drive this nation to become self-reliant. We need young talents inspired and driven by a thirst for knowledge and an inquiring mind to break the new grounds in technology and innovation. We should constantly remind ourselves that all pioneers of science and engineers who had guided the country through tough times, advocated for continuous experiments in technology, he said.
There is a close bond between BHU and India. And, the core of this deep relationship is the spirit, love, compassion, and vision of Mahamana. We also need to contribute to society and the country by working out mechanisms on how to structure engineering educational institutions. That will be a true tribute to our great Mahamana, observed the Lt Governor.
