Agri dept organises function to witness e-release of installment under PM-KISSAN

Srinagar: The Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department Kashmir Friday organized a special function to witness the e-release of December 2020 to March 2021 installment under PM KISAN SAMMAN NIDHI SCHEME (PM- KISSAN) by Prime Minister of India.
The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Srinagar, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Speaking during the function, the DDC highlighted the benefits of PM KISAN schemes which aims to provide income support to the eligible farmer families across the country with cultivable land, subject to certain exclusions.
He said under this scheme, an amount of Rs.6000/- per month in three 4-monthly installments of Rs.2000/- each is credited directly into the bank account of the beneficiaries through DBT mode.
He appreciated the role of the Agriculture Department in reaching out to the farmers of Srinagar district where despite the fact the land holding of the agriculturists is less but they produce various traditional and high value agriculture crops with the help of interventions and support of the Department.
Dr Choudhary said the main focus of the officers of the Agriculture and allied departments should be on educating unemployed youth of valley regarding various benefits of central sponsored schemes so that they get benefited to earn their livelihood with dignity.
On the occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, Chief Horticulture Officer Srinagar and other sectoral officers of Agriculture and allied departments highlighted the importance of different farmer friendly schemes launched by Govt. Of India for the upliftment of economic status of the farming community.
Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture Kashmir had also organized similar kinds of functions throughout the valley at district, block and panchayat levels.
Among others, a large number of farmers, senior officers and officials from agriculture and its allied sectors were present during the function.
