Awantipora police arrests drug peddler, contraband substance recovered

Srinagar: Police in Awantipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession. Police said in a statement.
A police statement issued on Wednesday said “ officers at a check point established near Lethpora Crossing intercepted a person identified as Bilal Ahmad Wani resident of Lethpora Awantipora and recovered from them 30 Kgs of contraband substance (grinded Cannabis) from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where he remains in custody”.
The police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No.194/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
Police in it’s statement asked people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. “ Actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace”.
