Srinagar: A Personal Security Officer (PSO) of senior PDP leader Haji Pervez Ahmed, was killed on Monday after militants attacked him at Natipora area of Srinagar.
The slain PSO was identified as selection grade constable Pervez Ahmed of Nagam, Chadoora area of Budgam, who was protecting PDP leader Pervez at his Natipora residence.
A police officer said that the incident happened at around 9 am when Manzoor had gone to the market to buy milk. “He was fired from a close range,” he said, adding that the injured PSO was shifted to Bone and Joints hospital for treatment but he succumbed at the hospital.
“He had bullet injuries and succumbed after 15 minutes of his arrival to the hospital,” a doctor at Bone & Joints hospital said. PDP leader Haji Pervez said that this is the second attack on him since 2009. “My security cover was trimmed to a large extent despite the fact that I constantly face threats. I don’t know why they are doing it. I have been repeatedly demanding security cover and instead they are cutting it down. I don’t know why they (BJP) are so afraid of PDP,” he said. Meanwhile, a massive manhunt has been launched in Natipora, by the police and paramilitary forces to nab the attackers
