DDC Elections: DEO Jammu reviews arrangements for counting of votes

Jammu: District Election Officer (DEO), Sushma Chauhan Friday took stock of the arrangements for the counting of the votes polled for the District Development Council Elections, here at a meeting.
The counting of the votes polled for 14 Blocks (constituencies) for the first ever District Development Councils is scheduled on December 22, 2020 in the district.
The DEO issued instructions to the concerned officers to make proper arrangements at the venue for hassle-free counting process. She informed that the counting process would commence from 9 AM onwards till completion. “Only authorized persons and vehicles will be allowed to enter inside the venue,” she added.
The DEO informed that the training of counting staff will be conducted on December16 and December 21. She said that only one agent/candidate would be allowed at one table, while the messengers would be appointed by ROs.
She directed the teams constituted for counting along with ROs to follow the set procedure and maintain discipline, while discharging their duty. Jal Shakti and JPDCL were directed to ensure uninterrupted Power, drinking water supply at the venue.
It was informed in the meeting that all Staff for counting would be tested for Covid-19 on December 21st.
It was further informed that a joint Control Room of Police and Civil Administration and Media Centre would be set up for the smooth flow of election related information.
The DEO also took stock of the security and barricading arrangements being made at the venue. She asked the Traffic Police to prepare a comprehensive traffic management plan for the diversion of traffic to avoid inconvenience to the general public. It was informed that the parking to be allowed in Kala Kendera.
The DEO directed the concerned officers to ensure a comprehensive and accurate dissemination of counting related information and details.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Satish Sharma; Joint Director Information, Namrita Dogra; CPO Jammu, Yoginder Katoch; all Sub Divisional Magistrates of Jammu district, besides senior functionaries of Police, Traffic, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, PWD, ROs, JMC and other concerned.
