Srinagar: The higher reaches of Kashmir yet again experienced fresh snowfall while rains lashed plains since intervening night of Monday-Tuesday, thus bringing the maximum temperature down in the Valley.
The fresh wet spell also led to the closure of highways and roads in Jammu and Kashmir, affecting normal life in Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said the higher reaches including the world famous ski-resort Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Pahalgam received fresh snowfall since the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday.
Meteorological department’s Deputy Director, Mukhtar Ahmad said the higher reaches including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Gurez in Bandipora, Razdan top and others received fresh snowfall Tuesday.
He added that although according to the prediction, there will be a bit improvement in the weather conditions tomorrow, the snowfall and rains would occur at isolated places as well.
Ahmad also said that the weather condition would improve from December 10-December 11 while there is forecast of light to moderate rain or snowfall across J&K and Ladakh from December 11 evening to December 12 evening.
He further informed there was a bit improvement in the night temperature while the day temperature has gone down due to the fresh snowfall and rainfall across the Valley.
MeT spokesman said Gulmarg, the world famous ski-resort received 5.5 inches snowfall till 05:30 PM Tuesday while Pahalgam received 3cms of snowfall till the evening hours.
As per the spokesman, Gulmarg recorded minus 2.4 degree Celsius temperature last night while in Pahalgam, it was recorded 2.3 degree Celsius.
