Bandipora: Senior PDP leader and former MLA Bandipora Nizam-ud-Din Bhat Tuesday refuted allegations of distributing money by party agents among voters during DDC polls in Bonakoot village.
Bhat while talking to reporters said that PDP didn’t indulge in distributing money among voters and whatsoever is being said is aimed to distort the image of party.
He was replying to a tweet which alleged PDP of distributing Rs 500 to voters for forcing them to cast their ballots in favor of PAGD candidate. “BDC Bonakoot Bandipora distributes Rs 500 per vote after forcing voters to take oath on Holy Quran in favor of PDP (Alliance candidate). Gupkar Alliance indulging in violation of Model Code of Conduct”, alleged a student activist in his tweet.
The PDP leader said the person who tweeted against PDP to misrepresent its image actually mistook the circumstances. “It was refreshment which was given to workers for transport usage, breakfast and lunch in view of Covid-19 situation. The said refreshment was due to workers but ironically the person took it with another intention”, Bhat said.
Bhat said it is a normal procedure that a day before polls are scheduled, agents and workers of a party gathers and are being directed about Do’s and Don’ts of election process.
He added that tweet of the said person leveled serious allegations against PDP which was aimed to bring bad name to the party. “There were apprehensions that rivals will try to disrupt poll process and may create any misadventure. For that matter our agents and workers took oath of Holy Quran to keep the sanctity of polls uphold”, he added.
He further added that our poll agents and workers were summoned by police who clarified each and everything there before officials.
