Srinagar: Police in Kulgam arrested the accused involved in rape of a minor girl within 06 hours. Police said
A police statement issued on Saturday said Police Station Devsar received a complaint stating that a 17 year old minor girl (name with held) has been sexually assaulted, video-graphed and the same obscene video has been uploaded on social media networks.
Stating that a case FIR No. 120/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Devsar , the police in it’s statement said that investigation was initiated and a special team headed by SHO Devsar under the supervision of Dy SP PC Kulgam was constituted. Saying that the team acted swiftly and after strenuous efforts generated a specific information by utilizing all available means which led to the arrest of the accused within 06 hours after complaint was received, the police in it’s statement said the accused was identified as Mohd Aamir Bhat resident of Gudder Kulgam and subsequently shifted to PS Devsar where he remains in custody.
Saying that as a part of investigation, necessary medico-legal formalities have been carried out and investigation into the matter is in progress, the police in it’s statement further said “timely intervention and swift action by the police against anti-social elements have been highly appreciated by the locals”. Police in it’s statement also appealed people to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood reassuring them that efforts are on to curb social crimes shall continue.
